September 1st begins with a Void of Course Moon (VOC), in sensitive and imaginative Pisces. While the Moon is VOC, it is an ideal time to reflect rather than try to make something happen. Nothing grows during a VOC Moon, so it is best to hang tight, and spend time daydreaming (Pisces) about what you would like to see happen. Later in the day, the Moon trines Venus in Cancer: this is the ideal time for any emotional or creative expression. The mood will be warm, friendly and nurturing, especially in close relationships and family.
Venus changes signs from Cancer to Leo on September 7th. Relationship planet Venus is now more interested in dynamic and dramatic expression than cozying up with loved ones. Think Drama Queen vs. Protective Mamma Bird! Look to the early degrees of Leo in your own birth chart, to see where Ms. Diva will be wanting a stage and applause.
Mercury in Virgo moves into an exact alignment with the Sun in Virgo on September 10th. This is a unique conjunction called “Cazimi”, where Mercury moves across the face of the Sun. Mercury is happy in its home sign of Virgo, and with this alignment, gets special amplification from the Sun. Detail-oriented communication, analysis, and putting things in order logically is especially emphasized now. This is a great time to use “The Messenger” planet Mercury to your advantage, as it is strong and magnified by the Sun’s light.
There is a New Moon on September 15th. New Moons are perfect for new beginnings of any kind. With both the Sun and Moon in Virgo, new beginnings favor anything with Virgo themes: purifying, perfecting, and paying attention to the details. Virgo also supports being of service, considering habits that do not serve you, and paying attention to your health and well-being.
Mercury changes signs on September 17th, from Virgo into Libra. Communication is now focused on equality and balance, and reflects the Libran ability to see both sides. Compromise may be on your mind now, and is most likely the logical choice to make.
On September 19th, Uranus and Pluto make the second of a series of seven exact squares, that are occurring through the years 2012-2015. This is a tense aspect involving Uranus in Aries, the “unconventional warrior”, and Pluto in Capricorn, the “destruction of structure”. These are major alignments of two very potent collective energies. The result? Most likely, awakenings and endings: the major themes of Uranus and Pluto. Pluto Capricorn wants to break up structure, while Uranus Aries wants to wake up to a unique path. Break-up and wake-up everyone!
A day later, Mercury joins this alignment, opposing Uranus and squaring Pluto. This creates a “Cardinal T-Square”, as Mercury is in Libra. This represents three different energies trying to be actively expressed. Add the urge to consider consequences (Mercury Libra) to the break-up and wake-up of Uranus and Pluto, and you have three different directions calling for attention! This will cause frustration and change: Mercury, ruling communication and logical thought processes, wants to consider everyone and every side. Uranus and Pluto have their own agendas, thus creating challenge and tension.
The Autumnal Equinox occurs on September 22nd, as the Sun moves into Libra, and we switch into the fall season. The Sun crosses the equator, making day and night equal length. Now is the time to give thanks for what has resulted from the seeds sown earlier on in the year, and to asses the Libran principle of balance in your life. This is also the time to begin new projects, and to nurture new seeds that will blossom next spring.
September ends with a Full Moon, as the Sun in Libra opposes the Moon in Aries. Full Moons are a time of peaks and endings. They also highlight relationships, and in this case, the Libra-Aries dynamic of self versus other. The Moon is also conjunct Uranus in Aries, so expect the unexpected! Uranus-Moon brings change and shifting on a deeply inner level. This dynamic may free you up to be radical, trust your intuitive hits, and let go of that which limits you on a deep, subconscious plane.
